Announcing the New IntelliStation A Pro – First
AMD Opteron™ processor-based Workstation from IBM

Introducing the IBM IntelliStation A Pro powered by AMD Opteron processors 200 Series, delivering the scalability of 64-bit computing without sacrificing 32-bit compatibility or performance. Powered by single or dual AMD Opteron processors 200 Series, the all-new IntelliStation A Pro workstation doubles the data pathway with its AMD64 architecture, accessing up to 16GB* of DDR PC3200 memory to process massive datasets in 64-bit chunks. Applications that thrive on 64-bit memory addressability include:

Mechanical Computer Aided Design: load and manipulate complete assemblies of large, complex 3D models e.g. automotive and aerospace
Computer Aided Engineering: solve larger problems of finite element and computational fluid dynamics
Petroleum Exploration & Production: render enhanced detail for real-time 3D drilling, reservoir simulation, facilities modeling
Electronic Design Automation: simulate the complexity of integrated circuits comprising hundreds of millions of devices
Life Sciences: discover, visualize in 3D, and analyze more complex molecular models faster
Digital Content Creation: visualize hyper-realistic virtual worlds and characters, seamlessly capture and match motion, render stunning computer-generated effects for movies, video production and game consoles

* Maximum physical memory is 16GB running under select 64-bit Linux distributions; maximum physical memory is 4GB running under Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-bit operating system; addressable capacity will be less.
